Partners and Friends

We could not do what we do without the help of our friends and partners. For full details follow the links below.

St Wilfrids

TWAM

Refurbished tools are packed ready for collection by TWAM, our partner, who identifies organisations in Africa most in need of help and arranges shipping. More information about TWAM may be found on the link below.

‘Richard’

Volunteer Chris with tools ready to ship at Richard’s garage.

A huge THANK YOU to Richard for allowing ST4A the free use of his garage to store tools ready to ship. As donations come in to our workshop and are sorted and refurbished, the finished tools pile up in the ‘GoodsOutward’ corner, taking up significant space until we can arrange a collection from TWAM. With the growth in donations (which is great!) this meant we needed a pickup every 4 weeks or so. Having the garage allows us to store finished tools and donations until we have nearer to a full van load, saving driver time and fuel, and giving us more working space in the workshop. Thanks for supporting our work changing lives in Africa!

Julian Godfrey

Many thanks to Julian for providing industrial quality shelving and storage bins for the garage and workshop. We can now standardise our storage.

Workaid

Workaid is another UK charity dedicated to collecting, refurbishing and shipping tools to Africa. We have shared goals but the lists of tools we send vary. Workaid are happy to take several items which we do not send which would otherwise be scrapped.

Banana Boxes

Virtually all tools, once refurbished, are shipped to Africa in re-purposed banana boxes which are very strong, stack well and are easy to pick up and carry.  It can be difficult to source banana boxes in sufficient numbers so we are very grateful to these organisation who put them on one side for us.

Zeds: The wholefood grocer in Nether Edge keeps us supplied with empty banana boxes which we use to ship out tools

Food Works:  Upcycles quality surplus and locally grown ingredients into delicious food and drink in their Community Cafes. They also collect and share surplus food. Empty banana boxes are passed onto us.

Tool Collecting:

As well as dealing directly with those who have tools to donate, we are also happy to come and talk to local groups who then arrange donations and collections for us.

We would like to thank The Mothers Union groups and Rotary groups for their continuing contributions.

Where we work:

After a few hours at the workshop most of us retire to a local pub, the Sheaf View, for a drink and a chat. The social side of the activities is very important to us and volunteers become good friends.
